VarsityKotha (“the app”, “we”) is a student app for universities in Bangladesh, made by Silifton. These terms are the agreement between you and Silifton when you use the app or varsitykotha.com. By using them you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy, which explains what information we keep and why. If you don’t agree, please don’t use VarsityKotha.

The short version

• VarsityKotha is free. Use your own account and be who you say you are.
• You are responsible for what you post, also when you post anonymously. No bullying, threats, hate, sexual content, or sharing other people’s private details.
• Routines, bus positions, blood requests and other information come from students. Check anything important with your university or the hospital.
• Prize campaigns are free to join, winners are chosen by rank, and cheating gets you disqualified.
• You can delete your account at any time.

1. Who can use VarsityKotha

• VarsityKotha is for students and graduates of universities, colleges and polytechnics in Bangladesh. You must be at least 13 years old.
• Use one account, with an email address that is yours. Don’t pretend to be another person, a teacher, an official, or a student of a university you don’t study at.
• Keep your phone and sign-in safe. You are responsible for what happens in your account. If you think someone else used it, tell us at once at hello@silifton.com.

2. Verification and vouching

You are verified when you sign in with your university email, or when your CR or classmates confirm you. Confirm or vouch only for people you know are really your classmates. False confirmations can get your vouching blocked.

3. What you post

• You own what you post: Campus posts, comments, photos, routines, announcements, blood requests and reviews. You are responsible for it, and you must have the right to post it (for example, don’t post other people’s photos or work without their permission).
• So the app can work, you allow us to store, show, resize and share what you post with the people the feature is for (for example, students of your university or your class group), including a preview when someone shares a link to a post. This permission ends when the content is deleted, except for copies we keep hidden for moderation and in backups, as the Privacy Policy explains.
• Feedback and ideas you send us can be used to improve VarsityKotha, with no obligation to you.

4. Rules for everyone

Don’t post or do any of these on VarsityKotha:

• bullying, harassment, threats, or encouraging violence or self-harm;
• hate or insults against people for their religion, ethnicity, gender, disability or similar;
• other people’s private details (phone number, address, ID or roll number, private photos) without their consent;
• nudity, sexual content, or anything involving children in a sexual way;
• false information that can hurt people, such as fake blood requests, fake emergencies or fake notices from a university;
• spam, scams, chain messages, or advertising (sponsored content comes only from our team);
• anything illegal in Bangladesh, or that infringes someone’s copyright or trademark;
• cheating: fake accounts, fake invites, buying or selling accounts, or using bots or tricks to gain points;
• trying to break, overload or scrape the app, get into other accounts, or see information that isn’t meant for you.

5. Anonymous posts

You can post on Campus without your name. Other students, CRs, campus admins and universities can’t see who wrote an anonymous post. Anonymity is not a licence to break the rules: for serious rule breaks (bullying, harassment, threats, hate, sharing private details) the VarsityKotha team can look up the author, and every look-up is recorded. We disclose who wrote something to anyone outside our team only when Bangladeshi law or a valid legal order requires it. What you write can still give you away, and anyone can screenshot a post.

6. Moderation

• Anyone can report a post or comment. Our team and campus admins (trusted students appointed by VarsityKotha for their university) review reports.
• We may hide or remove content, stop someone from posting, vouching or joining campaigns, or close an account that breaks these terms or the law. We try to be fair and consistent, but we don’t have to keep content we believe breaks the rules.
• If you think we got it wrong, email hello@silifton.com and we will look again.

7. Teacher evaluations

Rate only courses and teachers you actually take, honestly and about the teaching. Ratings are anonymous and shown only when enough students have rated. Written comments are checked by our team before they appear; comments with personal attacks or insults are not published.

8. Blood donation

VarsityKotha only helps students find willing donors. We don’t check anyone’s health, blood group or request. Donating is your own free choice; follow the hospital’s screening and medical advice. Never ask for, offer or accept money for blood. We are not responsible for what happens between a donor and the person who asked.

9. Information in the app

Class routines, changes and announcements are entered by CRs and students; live bus positions come from students who share them and may be late or wrong; the CGPA calculator gives an estimate, and your official result is your university’s. Rankings, university details and other information may be incomplete. Check anything important, like an exam time, with your university.

10. Prize campaigns

• Each campaign has its own rules page (prizes, dates, how points count and who can win), which is part of these terms. Taking part is free: nothing to buy, and no rating or review of the app needed.
• Winners are chosen by rank, never by a draw. Before announcing winners, our team checks the standings and may remove points or disqualify anyone who cheats, for example with fake accounts or fake invites.
• Prizes are the ones described in the campaign and can’t be exchanged for cash unless the campaign says so.
• Google and Apple are not sponsors of, and not involved in, these campaigns.

11. Sponsored content and other websites

Some cards, posts and offers in the app are from sponsors and are labelled “Sponsored”. Offers are made by the sponsor, and their own terms apply. Links can take you to other websites or apps, which have their own terms and privacy policies; we are not responsible for them or for products and services bought from them.

12. Our app

• The VarsityKotha name, logo, design and app belong to Silifton. Don’t copy them or present something as made or approved by VarsityKotha when it isn’t.
• We keep improving the app, so features can change, be added or be removed. We may stop the service; if we do, we will tell you in advance where we can.

13. Ending your use

You can stop using VarsityKotha and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. What happens to your information then is explained in the Privacy Policy.

14. No guarantees

We work hard to keep VarsityKotha running, safe and correct, but we provide it “as is” and can’t promise it will always work, be error-free, or that information in it is complete. As far as the law allows, Silifton is not liable for indirect losses, or for losses caused by other users, sponsors or wrong information posted by others. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under Bangladeshi law that can’t be taken away.

15. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Bangladesh, and disputes go to the courts of Bangladesh. Please contact us first: most problems can be solved by email.

16. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update the date above. If the change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using VarsityKotha after that, the new terms apply.
